non toxic clean fall home and beauty swaps clean candles body lotion home cleaning

My Fall Clean Essentials: Home, Body & Beauty Favorites

As the crisp autumn air starts rolling in and we begin transitioning our routines for the cozy season ahead, I find myself gravitating toward products that not only perform beautifully but also align with my values around clean, non-toxic living. After transitioning more to clean products for myself and my family and  curating products for Bright Spot, I've discovered that fall is the perfect time to reassess our essentials and invest in items that truly make a difference in how we feel at home and in our own skin.

This season, I'm focusing on products that eliminate unnecessary chemicals while delivering results. From creating an inviting atmosphere at home to maintaining healthy, glowing skin as the weather changes, these are the clean essentials I'm reaching for every day this fall.

Home: Creating Cozy, Clean Spaces

There's something magical about transforming your home into a sanctuary as the seasons change. This fall, I'm prioritizing products that not only make my space feel warm and inviting but also support better indoor air quality and reduce our exposure to harmful chemicals.

Bright Spot Candles

Of course, I have to mention our own Bright Spot candles, car diffusers and room spray – these have been a labor of love to develop. We've worked tirelessly to create candles that burn cleanly and scents that deliver beautiful, complex home fragrance that capture the essence of each season. The handmade quality and attention to detail in every product reflects our commitment to bringing you beautiful things that are both luxurious and responsible.

Blueland Cleaning Products

Switching to Blueland has been one of the best decisions I've made for our home this year. Their innovative tablet system means we're eliminating single-use plastic bottles while using cleaners that are EPA Safer Choice certified. The multi-surface cleaner has become my go-to for everything from kitchen counters to bathroom surfaces, and I love that there are no harsh chemical residues left behind. As we spend more time indoors during fall, having cleaning products that don't compromise our air quality is essential.

Body: Nourishing from the Outside In

As temperatures drop and indoor heating kicks in, our skin needs extra love and attention. This fall, I'm focusing on products that not only address seasonal skin concerns but also contain ingredients I feel good about using daily.

Beam Glow Hormone Balance Supplement

One of my newest additions to my fall wellness routine is Beam Glow, a hormone balance supplement co-created by home design expert Jenn Todryk. After struggling to find products that properly supported my hormones, I was thrilled to discover this thoughtfully formulated supplement. What sets Glow apart is its unique ingredient stack designed specifically for hormone support – something that becomes even more important as seasonal changes affect our bodies' natural rhythms. Jenn wasn't kidding when she said you won't believe how great it tastes; it's become a genuinely enjoyable part of my morning routine rather than another supplement I have to choke down.

Wonder Valley Olive Oil Cleanser

The Wonder Valley Hydrating Cleanser has become my holy grail for fall skincare. This olive oil-based cleanser removes makeup and daily buildup without stripping my skin of its natural moisture barrier. The formula is incredibly gentle yet effective, and I love that it's made with just a handful of high-quality ingredients. California olive oil, sunflower oil, and vitamin E work together to leave my skin feeling soft and hydrated rather than tight and dry. It's especially perfect for fall when my skin starts needing extra nourishment.

Goop Body Butter

I'll be honest – I was initially skeptical about Goop's body butter, but it has completely won me over. The rich, creamy texture absorbs beautifully without leaving any greasy residue, and the subtle scent is sophisticated without being overpowering. What impressed me most is the ingredient list: organic shea butter, coconut oil, and botanical extracts that actually nourish the skin rather than just sitting on top. I apply it after every shower, and my skin stays hydrated all day long, even with the heating on.

Beauty: Enhancing Natural Radiance

Fall beauty is all about achieving that healthy, natural glow while transitioning to slightly richer textures and deeper tones. These clean beauty products have become my non-negotiables for creating effortless looks that feel appropriate for the season.

ILIA Skin Tint

The ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint continues to be my desert island product. With SPF 40 and skin-loving ingredients like hyaluronic acid and niacinamide, it's the perfect hybrid of skincare and makeup. The coverage is buildable but never heavy, giving me that perfect "my skin but better" look that works whether I'm running errands or heading to dinner. For fall, I've been mixing in a tiny drop of their Brightening Serum to maintain that summer glow even as the sun starts setting earlier.

Jones Road Miracle Balm

Jones Road's Miracle Balm is exactly what its name suggests – miraculous. Bobbi Brown really created something special with this multi-use product. I use it on my cheeks for a natural flush, on my lips for subtle color and hydration, and even on my eyelids for a soft, dewy look. The formula feels incredibly nourishing, and the color payoff is perfect – present but never overwhelming. For fall, I've been gravitating toward the deeper rose tones that complement the seasonal shift beautifully.

Merit Beauty Cheek Color

The Merit cheek color has become my go-to for adding warmth to fall looks. The cream formula blends seamlessly into skin and has this beautiful, natural finish that looks like it's coming from within. I love that Merit keeps their formulations minimal and clean – no unnecessary fillers or potential irritants. The shade range is thoughtfully curated, and I find myself reaching for the terracotta and berry tones as we move deeper into autumn.

100% Pure Mascara

I've been using 100% Pure's fruit-pigmented mascara for months now, and it continues to impress me. Made with fruit and vegetable pigments rather than synthetic dyes, it gives beautiful definition and length without any of the harsh chemicals found in conventional mascaras. The brown shade is perfect for fall – it's softer than black but still provides great definition. Plus, it's incredibly gentle on my lashes, which I appreciate since I wear mascara almost daily.

RMS Beauty Un Cover-Up Concealer

The RMS concealer is a product I initially overlooked but now consider essential. Made with organic coconut oil and other skin-nourishing ingredients, it provides coverage while actually improving the skin underneath. The finish is natural and dewy rather than matte and cakey, which works beautifully for the fresh, healthy look I prefer. For fall, when my skin might be dealing with the effects of changing weather, having a concealer that works with my skin rather than against it is invaluable.

Why Clean Beauty and Home Products Matter More in Fall

As we spend more time indoors during the cooler months, the products we use daily have an even greater impact on our overall wellbeing. Poor indoor air quality can be exacerbated by synthetic fragrances, harsh cleaning chemicals, and conventional candles, while our skin faces additional challenges from heating systems and temperature fluctuations.

What I've learned through years of testing and researching products is that clean doesn't mean compromising on performance. In fact, many of these products work better than their conventional counterparts because they're formulated with ingredients that actually benefit our skin and homes rather than just creating temporary effects.

The shift toward cleaner products has also been incredibly freeing. There's something deeply satisfying about simplifying your routine with multi-use products like the Jones Road Miracle Balm or knowing that your home cleaning products are safe to use around family and pets. It's about creating a lifestyle that feels intentional and aligned with your values.

Making the Transition

If you're interested in transitioning to cleaner products this fall, I recommend starting with one category and gradually expanding. Maybe begin with switching out your most-used skincare product or candles – items you interact with daily. Pay attention to how your skin feels and how your home environment changes when you eliminate synthetic fragrances and harsh chemicals.

What I've discovered is that clean products often require a small adjustment period as your skin and senses recalibrate to more natural formulations. But the long-term benefits – better skin health, improved air quality, reduced exposure to potential toxins – are absolutely worth it.

This fall, as we settle into cozy routines and prepare for the holiday season ahead, I encourage you to consider how your daily products are supporting your overall wellbeing. These clean essentials have transformed not just my beauty and home routines, but how I feel in my space and in my own skin.

The best part about building a collection of trusted, clean products is that it simplifies decision-making while elevating everyday experiences. When you know every product in your routine is working to support your health and happiness, getting ready becomes a form of self-care rather than just another task.

Here's to a beautiful, clean, and cozy fall season ahead.
